How to apply tinted brow soap

Many of you might not know that the application of transparent and tinted brow soap differs from one another. Whether you're new to brow soap or have been using it for a while, there are a few things you should know and watch out for when using the brown Soap Booster - the right application is key! We explain how to use tinted brow soap and what tricks to apply to get the best results.

How to use tinted brow soap?

The application of the brown brow soap is actually super easy, but there are a few things you should watch out for. You'll notice that the first few steps of using tinted brow soap are the same as transparent brow soap, but don't skip them, as there might be a few things you didn't know.

Step 1: Activate the brow soap

To get the brow soap from a hard to a wax-like texture, you need to activate it first. We recommend using a setting spray as this will give you additional hold. Our Face Spritz was explicitly designed to activate the brow soap. It has antibacterial properties that will keep your soap nice and clean while nourishing your brows and hair. Alternatively, you can use any other setting spray. We recommend using a spray without glycerin, as glycerin can leave stains on the cardboard. If you don't have a setting spray, you can also use water.

If you're using a setting spray to activate the brow soap, you can either wet the brow soap or the brow brush. If you're wetting the brow soap directly, spray 1-3 pumps of setting spray from a hands-distance onto the soap. Make sure the soap isn't soaked and covered in water drops. Remember, the soap should only be damp and not wet. If you're wetting the brow brush, spray 3 pumps onto the brush and shake off any excess liquid. If you're using water, dip the brow brush under running water and shake off the excess fluid.

Step 2: Pick up some product

Next, it's time to pick up some product. Here, the process is still identical to using transparent brow soap. Simply rub the brow brush over the brow soap and gather a thin product layer. You only need a small amount of product, so less is more. We recommend using light pressure; otherwise, you will simply press the brow soap between the bristles, leaving you with messy brows.

Step 3: Style brows

As mentioned, tinted brow soap should be applied differently compared to transparent brow soap. Why? Because it's tinted. Simple as that. If you don't want to end up with messy results and brown soap residue all over your skin, make sure you're following this application technique:

After picking up some product, start by brushing your brows sidewards, i.e. towards the end of your brows. Make sure you stay within your brow line and don't brush above or below the hairs. This way, you will coat all brow hairs with brow soap without getting any product on your skin. Once you've done that, you can brush your brows upwards and into the preferred shape.

Useful tricks to apply

As with everything involving brows, our brow experts have a few tricks and tips that will help you get the best results.

Clean-up

Getting a bit of product on your skin is totally okay and happens to the best. If you have a few spots or areas you would like to clean, just grab a cotton swab. Our Definitely High Brow Concealer is also really helpful when covering up any messy parts.

Build up the color intensity

The cool thing about our brown Soap Booster is that the color is buildable. Depending on the number of layers and amount of product used, you can slowly build up the color intensity to match your natural brow color or go even darker. Simply gather new product and build up the layers until you are happy with the coverage and color.

Flip the brush

Sometimes, perfect brows need a bit of time, which is why you might need to brush through your brows multiple times to get them into shape. Unfortunately, brushing through your brows over and over again also means you are building up the product and adding layers on top of layers. Before you notice it, the color is either too dark, or you get too much brow soap in your brows, and the results become sticky or messy. But that doesn't have to be the case. We have a trick, with which you can brush through your brows as often as you want to, without building up the product:

When coating the spoolie with the brow soap, make sure only one side of the spoolie gets coated with the product. Then, as described above, brush your brows to the side to coat them with the product. Then, flip your brow brush and use the spoolie side that has no product on it, to brush your brows upwards and into the preferred shape. This way, you can brush through and re-shape your brows as often as you want to without adding any more product.

Lamination technique

If you want to achieve the laminated brow look, style your brows as desired, then use your finger or the wooden side of the spoolie to press them against the skin. Your brows will be stuck in place all day – and night.

Precise color application

If you have sparse areas or parts that need a little extra coverage, you can also apply the tinted brow soap spot-wise. Just gather a bit of product with the very tip of the spoolie brush and dab the soap onto the areas. Alternatively, you can use our Duo Brow Brush to apply the colored brow soap to individual areas.

Combining brow soap with other products

Due to the unique texture of brow soap, some products work better than others. Eyebrow powders, for example, go great with brow soap. Here, it's best to apply the eyebrow powder after you style your brows, as the powder will cling to the wax-like texture of the brow soap and last all day. Pencils, on the other hand, might not work so well. However, that also depends on the texture of the pencil you are using. Powdery pencils are great, but wax-like pencils are often tricky to apply. That is because the wax of the pencil does not cling to the wax-like texture of the brow soap. If you're using a pencil, try to use it before and/or after applying the brow soap and see which way works best. Felt tip brow liners and pomades, on the other hand, usually work great.

In the end, it's all about trial and error. Just experiment and see which eyebrow product and order of application works best with brow soap.

That's pretty much it. It might seem a little overwhelming and like many things to watch out for, but the application is super quick and straightforward once you get the hang of it.
